About us

Desert Heritage Arabians is the realisation of a childhood dream which was ignited my mother's versatile partbred Arab gelding Silver Beau (by Silver Stream), and my first purebred Arabian Aotea Libra (Ibn Naaddel x Saphir). I am grateful to my Pony Club instructor at the time, who when we asked advice on whether or not a purebred Arab was a suitable mount for a pre-teen girl, replied "a good Arab is a bloody good horse". Since then, all the horses have been part or purebred Arabs ... why ride anything else?

With the support of husband Nick, I purchased my foundation mares (who were weanlings at the time) and began breeding, with the first two purebred foals born in 2004. The aim is to breed beautiful, versatile and sound athletes with an emphasis on the dry desert type that Arabian breed became famous for. In addition, a trainable temperament is a top priority as we are well aware of the belief in the "mad Arab". Consequently, our tongue-in-cheek motto is "MAD about ARABS". We invite you to share in the Arabian Dream and discover for yourself why these horses are so special.
