We were very impressed with the way Karamea mares had bred with Euralea Light My Fire, so we repeated the cross with Karamea Alana (a mare we owned from weaning to 8 years of age, and is now still in the family, living the good life with my parents). The result was the aptly named Airborne DH, also known as "Tui". Tui has a comparatively short head, large sparkling eyes, good length of rein with a curved mitbah (otherwise known as "a hooky neck") and very short strong back and loin. Tui's powerful rear-end movement coupled with abundant presence and tail carriage always turns heads.

Tui's dam, Karamea Alana, is a substantial and compact mare with beautiful eyes that reflect her wonderful temperament. She is very responsive to ride and enjoyed trekking and mustering stock in the South Canterbury hill country. Karamea Alana's sire is the powerful Fairview Kaptivation, a masculine horse with super movement. Fairview Kaptivation is by Australia's leading sire Amir El Shaklan, in turn sired by the legendary El Shaklan and from the same Marbach damline as Sanacht, mother of 12 American champions. Kaptivation is out of Kreoluka, making him a full brother to dual Australian and USA National Champion stallion Fairview Klassique (also known as *Klassique). Kaptivation is himself a National Reserve Champion stallion, and in female line traces to Karramba, "whose great beauty was in part responsible for the interest in Polish breeding worldwide and which stimulated the purchase of many great and influential horses here in the United States, including *Bask" (Mark Wharton, part-owner of *Klassique).

Karamea Alana is out of the excellent broodmare Karamea Falahna. Falahna is herself a successful show horse, and has produced a number of high quality siblings to Karamea Alana, including Karamea Larissa (North Island Champion filly, 2006 National Top 5 mare, and dam of the 2006 National Champion mare who is a sister in blood to Airborne DH), Karamea Leilana (winner of Supreme Championships at the Royal Easter Show, the North Island Championships, and the Northland Classic), and Karamea Navarrone (In-hand champion gelding, exported to Malaysia for Endurance). Karamea Falahna is by El Kheir Galal, who is in turn by the outstanding show and performance sire Gai Cadet and out of Waimaha Juana, a full sister to the "iron" endurance athlete Waimeha Mandate, the only horse in New Zealand to complete over 9000km in Endurance.

Considering the small number of foals he has produced, El Kheir Galal's record as a sire is remarkable. His sons include Karamea Kazahni (back-to-back 160km National Endurance Champion in 2002 and 2003, and 2nd in 2004) and Karamea Bay Shadow (twice North Island Champion gelding, National Reserve Champion gelding, 2003 North Island Junior 100km Endurance Champion, 2003 National Junior Endurance Champion and 2007 National 100km CEI** Champion). El Kheir Galal's only other son to try Endurance was Windvale Musician, another 160km race winner!

Tui's sire, Euralea Light My Fire, a predominantly Spanish Arabian, is linebred to Tabal, Shaker El Masri and Estopa. According to Sigi Constanti of Om El Arab International "together, Estopa and Shaker El Masri produced a new dimension of Arabian horse for Europe, a dimension that had previously only danced on the pages of books of artists or were frozen in bronzed animation on coffee tables." Euralea Light My Fire has won National titles as a colt and mature stallion, continuing the winning ways of his unforgettable parents Wind N Fire and Yanah Ibn Estopa.

Wind N Fire is by GG Magnetism, son of the AN Malik (leading Spanish sire of champions) and CC Montessa (producer of 9 champions). Wind N Fire, himself a National Champion and accomplished Endurance athlete, is out of the Amir El Shaklan daughter Windella Silver Fire, dam of three NZ National Champions and tracing in tail female line to the fabulous Silver family, including three-time British National Supreme Champion mare Silver Sheen.

Yanah Ibn Estopa, another National Champion, is an accomplished dam and grandam of show horses and more recently, saddle horses. She is by World Champion Ibn Estopa, brother of El Shaklan. Her dam is the pure Spanish Yemanah, mother and grandmother of halter and performance champions throughout Australasia.
